Zhejiang Ocean University is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People's Republic of China and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, and a key university jointly built by the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province and the People's Government of Zhoushan City. It is also a member of CDIO Engineering Education Alliance, One Belt One Road Alliance for South-South Cooperation in Agricultural Education and Science and Technology Innovation, and a member of China-Central and Eastern Europe "16+1" Association of National Universities. The school was founded in 1958, firstly named Zhoushan Aquatic College, then renamed Zhejiang Aquatic College in 1975, and became one of the first batch of bachelor's degree granting colleges and universities in China in 1982, merged with Zhoushan Normal College in 1998 to form Zhejiang Ocean College, and after 2000, Zhoushan Health School, Zhejiang Aquatic School, Zhejiang Marine Aquatic Research Institute, Zhoushan Petrochemical School and Zhoushan Commercial School After 2000, Zhoushan Health School, Zhejiang Aquatic School, Zhejiang Marine Aquatic Research Institute, Zhoushan Petrochemical School and Zhoushan Commercial School were merged into one after another.
